I came to Oriental Medicine through two very different roads, and walking along that path AcuMedica was born.
The first road was engineering. I spent years working in ocean engineering and enterprise software, learning to analyze complex systems, locate where they break down, and build solutions designed to hold over time. I became someone who asks why, who maps cause and effect, who tracks results with rigor. That way of thinking has never left me.
The second road was more personal. When my father was seriously ill, acupuncture and Oriental Medicine helped him cope with pain in ways the Western medical system could not reach on its own. But what changed my life was everything else I saw in that hospital. People in every room carrying suffering that the tools around them were not built to address. I had two degrees and nothing useful to offer any of them. That gap became impossible to sit with, and it sent me in a completely different direction.
I went back to school, earned my Master of Science in Oriental Medicine, became a nationally board-certified diplomate in Oriental Medicine through NCCAOM, and spent years training alongside experienced practitioners before opening AcuMedica. During those years I worked with patients across a wide range of presentations and life stages, women navigating emotional and mood disorders or transitions, hurt young athletes at their peak, older adults managing chronic conditions, and everything in between. I have watched and kept track of what happens when they receive sustained, structured care. I take notes. I study the research. I am building programs around what I saw work.
How I structure care patient care is directly drawn from my experience as a Project Management Professional because recovering from health irregularities is not just a clinical process. It is also a personal one, requiring accountability, structure, and a clear map of what comes next. I bring all of that into the treatment room.
AcuMedica exists close to my community. The people I serve are mostly my neighbors. I built this practice for them, and I show up to it with everything I have: a clinical lineage I trust completely, a mind trained to find the root of things, and a genuine commitment to working with each person until they feel like themselves again.
